An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 rocked Papua New Guinea causing a small tsunami the quake, 42 km deep, was recorded at about 130 km south of the town of Kokopo, northeast of the country. This was announced by the US Geological Survey. The tsunami, a little less than one meter in height, caused no damage, while the earthquake damaged some houses and utility poles resulting in a blackout.
